DELE A2 Reading: Four Tasks and How to Practise Them

November 6, 2026
Updated November 6, 2026

Format, the four papers, the group pass rules, and the 2026 dates are on the DELE A2 page.

Because Grupo 1 is paired, a strong writing day cannot cancel a weak reading day — and the opposite is also true. When you revise the pass mechanics, use the 30/50 breakdown article so you stop guessing how the marks combine.

The four tasks in 60 minutes

Tarea 1 — personal letter or email

You read one private message of roughly 250–300 words and answer five multiple-choice questions with three options each. The exam rewards the main idea plus predictable factual detail — dates, reasons, locations — not ornate interpretation.

Tarea 2 — eight short public texts

Eight notices, ads, or instructions of about 50–80 words pair with eight multiple-choice items. Train yourself to see purpose fast: is this inviting, warning, selling, or regulating? The right option usually matches that intent.

Tarea 3 — match statements to texts

Three short informational texts support six matching statements. If two blurbs look similar, underline the contrast on the question sheet before you mark the answer sheet — mixing neighbours is the common slip here.

Tarea 4 — longer narrative or informative text

One passage of about 375–425 words feeds six multiple-choice questions. Track how the topic shifts paragraph by paragraph; distractors often borrow true detail from the wrong section.

Booklet, answer sheet, timing

The reading booklet is physically bound with listening, but you answer reading during the reading slot only. Marks go on the separate answer grid; never circle inside the booklet. No penalty means never leave a line blank — eliminate one absurd option and guess.

European Spanish, exam-style stems, but authored for this article — use them to rehearse attention, not to memorise content for test day.

Tarea 1 style — email sample

Correct: B — the closing paragraph still asks for “precio total” and “forma de pago”. A is wrong because arrival time is already given (~18:00); C invents a driver the email never mentions.

¿Cuál es el motivo principal del mensaje? A) Cambiar la fecha de la estancia B) Confirmar deportes acuáticos en la playa C) Solicitar reserva e información práctica del albergue

Correct: C — the body books beds and asks operational questions. A contradicts the fixed July week; B never appears.

Tarea 2 style — notices

Aviso — Mercado Municipal Cerrado por inventario el martes 9 de junio. El miércoles abrimos en horario habitual (8:00–14:00). Pedimos disculpas a los clientes.

Biblioteca Barrio Norte Préstamo máximo 15 días. Renovación online si no hay reserva pendiente. Multas desde el día 16.

¿Qué texto habla de días sin servicio por motivos internos? A) El mercado B) La biblioteca C) Ninguno de los dos

Correct: A — inventory closure. B only describes loan rules; it stays open.

Tarea 3 style — match

Texto A — Taller “Foto ciudad”. Salidas los sábados a las 9:00 desde la plaza Mayor. Trae cámara o móvil con modo manual. Grupos reducidos (máx. 8).

Texto B — Curso online de retoque digital. Clases en directo martes y jueves 19:30. Necesitas ordenador y conexión estable; el software de prueba se envía al inscribirte.

Afirmación: “Quieren practicar fotografía en la calle en grupos pequeños.” ¿Texto A o B?

Texto A — Saturday city outings with an eight-person cap. Texto B is a digital editing webinar, not street practice.

Tarea 4 style — paragraph

Correct: B — spring doubling contingent on usage. A and C contradict the council’s maintenance and app-based workflow.

How to build speed without cheating the clock

  • Skim the question stems before you deep-read Tarea 4 so you know which twists to flag.
  • Track Grupo 1 whenever you mark a homework set — if reading + writing practice sits under 30/50, fix vocabulary before you add more past papers.
  • Pair reading drills with listening practice because the bound booklet means fatigue carries straight from text to audio on exam day.

Vocabulary and on-site practice

FAQ

Is there negative marking in DELE A2 reading?
No — each correct item scores one point and wrong answers score zero, so blank and wrong cells carry the same item mark but guessing cannot reduce your total.
How does DELE A2 reading combine with writing for a pass?
Reading and writing form Grupo 1; the pair must reach 30/50 together while listening and speaking form Grupo 2 with the same rule — cross-pair rescue is not possible.
