Who receives the action — a quem?
The forms
- me — to me
- te — to you (tu)
- lhe — to him / her / you (formal)
- nos — to us
- lhes — to them
No vos in everyday PLA survival — same as our Verbs drill.
After the verb (affirmative)
In clear affirmative lines, the clitic often follows with a hyphen.
- Telefonei-lhe.
- Expliquei-lhes a lição.
- Agradeci-te.
Before the verb (with não / que…)
After não, nunca, também não — the clitic usually comes first.
- Não lhe telefonei.
- Nunca me explicaram.
- Não nos disseram.
Real life
- Pedi-lhe o número.
- Dói-me a cabeça.
- Disse-lhes a verdade.
Think “to whom?” — then pick me / te / lhe / nos / lhes.
