Format, the B1 rule, and each part are on the DTZ B1 page.
Quick Answer
From 2023 onward, g.a.s.t. issues personalised answer sheets. At the start of each part, check first name, family name, date of birth, location, and exam date — they mirror what will appear on your certificate. Use a blue or black ballpoint pen that cannot be erased; pencils are not allowed. To change an answer, shade the wrong box completely and mark the new one; to go back to the first choice, shade the wrong box and circle the original. The written exam has three timed parts totalling about 100 minutes (Hören about 25 minutes, Lesen 45, Schreiben 30): work only in the part’s window, wait for the stop note, and do not turn the page until staff allow it. In Schreiben, tick task A or B on the writing sheet, stay inside the lined area on one double-sided sheet, and treat notes in the task booklet as unscored. Sprechen is paired and lasts about 16 minutes. Need adjustments? Contact the Prüfstelle at least three months before the date, or six months if you are blind, with a medical note in German or English not older than two years.
Personalised sheets and ID match
Treat spelling on the sheet like a document review. If something is wrong before the exam starts, alert staff immediately — reprints are simpler than arguing after certificates are issued.
Written block discipline
Each section has its own clock and a stop signal. Staying inside those edges protects your Hören audio and keeps Lesen fair for everyone; jumping ahead risks disqualification, not just lost minutes.
Paired Sprechen
You work with another candidate for roughly sixteen minutes. Walk the speaking drills on the hub once the pair format is clear, and use the public walkthrough on the DTZ mock page to see the screen before exam day.
Disability-related requests
The FAQ sets the three- or six-month lead time and the fresh medical note rule. Start with your Prüfstelle in writing, not on exam morning.
Route repair through the learning path
Use the Prep2Go DTZ B1 learning path to align vocabulary, templates, and skill drills after exam day is clear in your calendar.
