CAPLE (the Portuguese exam authority) operates certified centres in 35+ countries. You can register at any CAPLE centre worldwide — your certificate is identical regardless of where you sit the exam.

The May–June slot crisis
Portugal has CIPLE sessions roughly every 2 months. The May session is the most popular — it's the last chance before summer to get results in time for autumn citizenship applications.
In Lisbon and Porto, all slots can fill within 24–48 hours of registration opening. Candidates who miss it face waiting until July or September — delaying citizenship by 6+ months.

Step-by-step: how to register in Spain
Go to caple.letras.ulisboa.pt → select Spain as the country → choose Badajoz or Vigo → check available sessions. Each centre sets its own slots independently, so availability varies.
Complete the registration form. Cost: approximately €72–85 (same as Portugal, sometimes slightly higher due to centre fees). Payment must be completed within 24 hours of registration — have your card ready.
Bus and train to Badajoz or Vigo books out fast around exam weekends. Book as soon as you confirm your exam slot. Budget for one night in a hotel if the exam is on a weekday.
The same ID you registered with (passport or residence permit). The certificate number must match exactly. No Portuguese address or residency proof required at the exam centre.
Results are published online at caple.letras.ulisboa.pt. Your certificate arrives by post or email — identical to one from a Portuguese centre. It is accepted by AIMA and all Portuguese citizenship authorities.
